Amenities
Welcome to Ryder Lake
Summer in Ryder Lake
Just outside Chilliwack, is one of the most beautiful areas in British Columbia’s Fraser Valley. That place is called Ryder Lake.
Ryder Lake is a sub-alpine hamlet in the foothills of the Pacific mountain range. Just a 20 minute drive from downtown Chilliwack and 90 minutes from Vancouver. The community of small, medium, and larger family owned farms is surrounded by snow topped mountains - Elk Mountain Slesse Mountain, Maguire Mountain, Church Mountain and Mount Thom, to name a few.
Sheltered in the valley bowl, charming homesteads dot the landscape. Each year the close-knit community plays host to city dwellers and country kin alike. Visitors come from close to home, from around the Province, and around the world, to attend the annual Ryder Lake Ramble. During the Ramble weekend, the Ryder Lake Hall is open to the public. The aroma of delicious home country cooking greets visitors as they begin their tour of some of the most beautiful properties in the area. Visitors are treated to a self-guided rambling collection; a sort of “Open House” of local farms, incredible gardens, breathtaking views, and walks in the serene natural environment. The annual Ramble shines a spotlight on this beautiful and unique area, in the hopes that Ryder Lake’s unique character and charm, will be celebrated, and protected, for many future generations to come.Ryder Lake is truly one of the jewels in the crown of the Fraser Valley.
The Ryder Lake Farmers & Womens Institutes, and the local Hall, owned by and named for the two groups, has played an important role over the years, in strengthening and maintaining the bonds within the Ryder Lake community. As well, for the last 9 years, the Ryder Lake News & Views; the free monthlyish community newsletter, has provided a communal voice, and a fun source of information and event updates, to all families in the area; as have the many of the wonderful community gazettes of the past.
Local historian, long time resident, and member of the Womens Institute; Bea Mazurenko, has written a wonderful book on the history of the area, aptly entitled, Ryder Lake. For these reasons, and many more, Ryder Lake and its people, make up a unique community. A community worth caring for, and a community worth sharing. We’d like to welcome you the Ryder Lake website. It is designed to be of interest to visitors from around the world, as well as providing an up-to-date link for local members of the community.Enjoy the town hall festival activity nights that are always culturally entertaining.
